What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you look as young as you feel? Our facial expressions play an important role in communicating emotions, even making first impressions with people. Is your face unintentionally communicating emotions of sadness or anger due to the sagging of your brow or wrinkle lines on your forehead?
As we age, our skin loses elascticity, which can cause the eyebrows to sag and wrinkles to form. It’s not just aging that can result in a furrowed-looking brow. The aging process also causes the distance between the eyebrows and eyelashes to shorten. Some people are genetically predisposed to a lower, more furrowed brow. For people with a sagging brow, it can be frustrating to have others look at you and immediately get the impression you’re sad or upset, when you are generally happy and content.
For many people choosing to have a brow lift, which is also known as a forehead lift or forehead rejuvenation, is one way to help lessen the impact of a sagging brow. The benefits of a brow lift include:
- a more youthful appearance, thanks to the reduction in wrinkles and raising sagging brows.
- the prospect of looking more refreshed and alert.
- a boost in self confidence.
Details of the Brow Lift
A brow lift is a procedure performed by plastic surgeons. Through an incision at the hairline the surgeon will work to adjust the skin, as well as the tissue and muscle beneath the skin, to correct the source of visible creases and furrows in the forehead. This procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia.
You should be able to return to work and regular activities within 10-14 days of your brow lift surgery. While healing will still be an ongoing process for several weeks or months, the initial swelling will have abated within 1-2 weeks.
Once you’ve had the brow lift procedure, your face appears brighter, more refreshed, and naturally more alert, promoting the impression of someone who is happy and confident. First impressions make a big difference, and we want to help you put your best look forward.
