Happy 3rd 29th birthday! How many times have you had a friend joke about turning 29 again? When we have our 16th birthday, or 21st, we’re so proud of those milestones and feel like we are finally an adult. But then the reality of aging sets in. There’s something about that milestone at 30 that all of a sudden turns birthdays from a time of celebrating to a feeling of impending doom. Those feelings of wanting to stop time and keep from aging are nothing to joke about. In fact, with a good skin care routine and some help from our professionals, you can keep those signs of aging at bay. Then when you proudly say you’re 33, you’ll hear gasps of shock as people say, “I thought you looked much younger!”
Signs of Aging in our 30s
The Skin: Once we’re in our 20s, the body produces less collagen and elastin each year. These are the things that provide structure to your face, making young skin look plump and firm. This means that in your 30s, your skin starts to lose volume and elasticity. Eyes: You might start noticing fine lines around your eyes, commonly referred to as crow’s feet, due to normal things such as smiling and squinting in the sun. You might also begin having dark circles under your eyes and your eyelids will start to droop. Lips: In your 30s you will start to have a slight decrease in the thickness of your upper lip and fine wrinkles around the edges of your lips, similar to the crow’s feet around your eyes. Forehead: In your 30s you might start to see the trace of a frown line on your forehead.
Keep the Signs of Aging at Bay
While getting older is inevitable, it doesn’t mean we have to succumb to these signs of aging. Many are easy to reverse or treat. Here are a few things we recommend to stall the signs of aging while in your 30s.
– Sunscreen. The sun’s UV rays are the number one cause of premature aging in our skin. By diligently applying a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 every day, you can help prevent premature wrinkles and brown spots.
– Sunglasses. Wrinkles are caused because the skin loses its elasticity, so when you walk out into the bright sun and squint, your skin doesn’t bounce back like it used to. Wearing sunglasses can help prevent the squinting and keep wrinkles from setting in.
– Facial Peels. A light-depth chemical peel provides benefits including erasing fine lines and smoothing out skin tone. Consider our Pumpkin Peel, which is made up of a soothing blend of herbs and nutrients.
– Injectables. Another way to ward off wrinkles is with Botox or other fillers such as Restalyne, Juvaderm, or Radiesse. These products help smooth the areas in the forehead and around the eyes and mouth.
